HalfSauced Barbeque won their first Grand Champion at the 2009 Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce 15th Annual Redneck BBQ Challenge.  They were competing against 27 other teams.  The weather was cold and wet, not very welcoming.  They were excited to be back at a KCBS BBQ contest, which is where it all started.

Grand Champion is the highest award given out at a barbeque contest.  It is awarded to the team that has the highest cumulative score in chicken, ribs, pork and brisket.  In addition to being awarded Grand Champion, HalfSauced took 6th place in Ribs, 6th place in Pork and 2nd in Beef Brisket (the chicken placed 11th).

Being awarded Grand Champion will allow them to enter the 2009 American Royal Invitational Barbeque contest and the 2010 Great American Barbeque Invitational barbeque contest.  Only cooks/teams that have won a Grand Champion may compete in these contests; a best of the best contest.  They have competed in the American Royal Open since 1999, but this will be their first shot at the Invitational.

This Grand Champion will also get them an entry into the lottery, to represent the state of Missouri, for the 2009 Jack Daniel's Barbeque contest.  The Jack Daniel's is the hardest barbeque contest to get into.

HalfSauced Barbeque plans to return to their roots by competing in more barbeque contests this season.  Check back often to see how they are doing.

HalfSauced Barbeque Wins Grand Champion in Sikeston
Randy from HalfSauced Barbeque takes Grand Champion Again!
4/18/09
For the second week in a row, HalfSauced Barbeque is crowned Grand Champion at another KCBS barbeque contest.  This time it is at the 10th Annual Rock'n Ribs BBQ Festival in Springfield, MO.  The contest is put on by the Rotarians of Springfield Missouri in the parking lots of the Bass Pro Shops' Headquarters.

Out of the 58 teams competing, Randy also received a first place call in chicken and a fourth place call brisket.  His chicken scored over 176 points out of a possible 180.  At turn-in time, Randy was confident that this was the best chicken he had ever prepared.

The Rock'n Ribs BBQ Festival is a great contest benefiting children charities in the Ozarks.  Last year they raised $130,000.  This barbeque contest is a little different from others; for one thing, they feed the public.  They provide pork butts and beef brisket for the contestants to cook and hand out as samples on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  Nobody goes hungry.  And the Friday night party is second only to the American Royal.

Wing Ding 2009
10/9/09
HalfSauced Barbeque wins the 1st Place Tastiest and the Peoples Choice awards at this year's Wing Ding.  This is the first time in the event's history that the same restaurant has won both top honors.  The annual Wing Ding benefits Easter Seals Missouri.  The event was held at The Lodge of the Four Seasons Exhibit Hall, due to the threat of rain.

In addition to this year's win, HalfSauced Barbeque has won 1st Place Tastiest in 2005 and 2007; and Peoples Choice in 2006 and 2008.
